The Museum celebrated the centennial of its first building in 1999 and the opening of a new wing in March 2003. Thisarchitectural treasure on Penn's campus houses an exceptional array of antiquities from Egypt to China to Mesopotamia and provides an exciting and prestigious setting unlike any other.

Lower Egyptian Gallery
Picture your reception surrounded by the magnificent sphinx of Ramesses II and palatial columns in the Museum's Lower Egyptian Gallery. A splendid setting enriched by the antiquities of Egypt.

Upper Egyptian Gallery
This gallery displays some of the museum's finest examples of Egyptian sculpture from carved relief to stone coffins, a testament to the phenomenal craftsmanship of the Egyptians. Highlights of this gallery include statues of the goddess Sekhmet, portrayed as a lioness of lion-headed woman, the defender of the sun god, Ra. Sekhmet was revered as protector for her ability to spare Egyptians from the sun god's wrath.

Chinese Rotunda
The Chinese Rotunda is a setting as majestic as the Chinese antiquities it displays. Ninety feet in diameter, soaring ninety feet high, the Rotunda is one of the largest, unsupported masonry domes in the US and houses one of the  finest collections of monumental Chinese art. Behold the artistry of the Chinese, from early Buddhist sculpture to pre-Sung period masterpieces. Set the scene for a memorable event in this truly spectacular venue.

Harrison Auditorium
The Harrison Auditorium, rich in Art Deco architectural detail, featuring a dramatic sunburst ceiling, is ideal for lectures, meetings, conferences, concerts, and film premieres.

Mosaic Gallery
Hold your reception in this attractive, glass-enclosed gallery surrounded by magnificent ancient mosaics from Syria and Carthage. In the warmer months, your group can overflow into the surrounding gardens.
